If you don’t have a blog or you’re blogging on a free blogging platform read this How To Start A Blog Guide.  It not only shares how to set up your blog today, but I also explain why having a self-hosted blog is so important. Give it a read!

Going forward, I am assuming you have a self-hosted blog.

You can make money on a free blogging platform, but the biggest and best opportunities for bloggers are aimed at those with a self-hosted blog.

If you don’t know what I mean when I say “self-hosted blog” read this blog post where I explain in detail what it means and why it is so important.

So you have your self-hosted blog and you’re ready to make a bit of money.  I’m happy you’ve decided to monetize your blog but I also want you to be realistic.  Some new bloggers take months before they see any income and the first time they do, it might only be a few bucks.

Make Money Blogging – Write blog posts for via affiliate marketing

Yes, you should sign up for the many affiliate marketing programs as a new blogger, but this isn’t your typical affiliate marketing tip.

When you sign up to a program often, you’ll get an email from that company encouraging you to write a blog post (or another similar task) within a specific time frame.  If you complete the job, you could earn up to 25 £/$ just for blogging.

They won’t ask you to do anything illegal like make any false claims.  Sometimes the blog posts are just sharing points about the product or service and adding a banner image.

It’s an easy way to score your first paid gig as a blogger plus it’s another way for you to promote your affiliate links.

If you’re interested in affiliate marketing, ShareASale affiliate network is very kind to small bloggers.  This post breaks down how bloggers make real money online with ShareASale.   Sign up and start creating income today!

Selling Ad Space

If you have steady traffic coming into your blog or a decent sized social media following connected to your blog you should consider selling ad space or shout-outs on social media.

It’s simple, come up with a price, decide how long you’ll shout out or advertise for and how you’ll do it.

On a blog, it’s usually an image in the sidebar that is linked to the person’s blog or website.  You can also do a blog post for each new round of advertisers that highlights their project.

Offer your own services

This is the main way I make money from my blog – I offer a range of services that align with my skills as a graphic designer and digital marketer.

One of the easist ways to make money with your blog is by becoming a Virtual Assistant.  As a Virtual Assistant you can offer help in so many ways – keeping people’s schedules, managing social media, copywriting; the opportunities are endlesss.

While this has the potential to bring in good money, this option is more intensive.  Before you launch your business determine if you can commit to the demands that will come with this job.  Cause guess what, it is a job.
